Indicator Test
European Standard (EN) 301 549 consists of 82 individual success criteria (50 from WCAG 2.1 AA, 32 from Appendix A of the standard in version 3.2.1) – accordingly, tests based on the EN (such as the German BIK BITV test) tend to be quite extensive and sometimes time-consuming. Even though the complexity of the test has a lot to do with the complexity of the website being tested:
Sometimes a quick assessment of accessibility is desired, without (yet) requiring in-depth consultation. Based on specific indicator test criteria, it is possible, for example, to determine with relatively little effort that a website would not pass a full EN 301 549/BIK BITV test.
I can offer you this so-called indicator test (which some also call a quick test or smoke test). However, please note the following:
- An indicator test cannot replace a full BIK BITV, EN 301 549 or WCAG test, and, because it does not fully test a technical standard, it cannot make a statement of compliance.
- Failing an indicator test certainly means failing an EN 301 549 test. However, the reverse is not true due to the compliance requirements!
- An indicator test cannot fully identify all compliance violations on your website, as it only performs selected testing steps. For a more comprehensive approach, I recommend a BIK Test.
- Even though I am a testing agency in the BIK testing network and have extensive experience in WCAG and BITV testing, an indicator test is not subject to BIK quality assurance.

Pricing
To estimate the workload, I refer to the complexity assessment of web documents, as found here on bitvtest.de (German). Similar to the “full” BIK test, you can provide a selection of pages, or I can create a cross-section of pages/states. My base price per page or state is EUR 170. Based on the complexity of the pages in the selection and how the selection is made, I will provide you with a binding quote.
